Introduction: Health Informatics and Communication Skills
This course will build on existing curriculum related to digital health. The course prepares students to understand information and communication technology (ICT) applications to improve health outcomes in underserved communities. The course will also cover communication, guidance and counselling for nurses

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
  • Explore the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in health research and practice.
  • Discuss the major concepts related to mobile and ICT applications for health.
  • Discuss Nursing challenges in embracing healthcare technology.
  • Equip students with the necessary skills to use in ICT applications in a real world health setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for effective communication in Health care. 
  • Prepare sessions necessary for guidance and counseling 

Competences
  • Apply confidentiality principles and Nursing informatics to Nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate ability to use various computer-based medical/hospital equipment 
  • Effectively communicate using the four language skills of writing, speaking, listening and reading.
  • Communicate at interpersonal, group and patient levels in both formal and informal settings
  • Apply appropriate techniques in communication during guidance and counseling
