Introduction: Surgical Nursing
The course prepares students with the knowledge and skills and attitudes to care for patients with surgical conditions of the skin, head, neck and thorax and the abdomen. It covers clinical features and management of the conditions of skin, head, neck, and thorax and abdomen

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the student will:
  • Describe features and management of conditions of neck, thorax abdomen, ano-rectal and genitourinary system. .
  • Demonstrate professional skills and attitudes in the care of patients with above conditions.
  • Be able to provide appropriate Nursing care using the Nursing process to manage patients preoperatively.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this unit, students will be able to;
  • Describe neck, thorax abdomen, ano-rectal and genitourinary system.
  • Surgically manage neck, thorax abdomen, ano-rectal and genitourinary system
Competences 
  • Describe features and management of conditions of neck, thorax abdomen, ano-rectal and genitourinary system.
  • Demonstrate professional skills in the care of patients with neck, thorax abdomen, ano-rectal and genitourinary system conditions.
  • Be able to provide appropriate Nursing care using Nursing process to manage patients’ perioperatively.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude in the care of patients with above conditions
