The overall aim or focus of the course is the nursing of patients who are critically ill and the in-depth study of the pathophysiological mechanisms of disease. It covers four major topics.

  4. Pathologic Conditions
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  • Describe the physiological and pathological mechanisms of disease production in patients requiring intensive care nursing.
  • Illustrate the ways in which treatments and nursing interventions influence the body's remarkable ability to compensate for the pathophysiological changes in disease.
