Introduction: Research Methods
This course introduces the values and characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research within an ethical perspective. Students examine the research process through analysis and critiquing. The course focuses on the principles, methods, designs and interpretation of nursing inquiry as preparation for skills in the utilization of research findings in practice settings by learning how to organize and communicate research results

Course Objectives
The course introduces the students to research by using various methodologies to successfully develop a research proposal. By the end of this course students will be able to:
  • Define research.
  • Identify steps in the research process including methods and procedures.
  • Know the types of both quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Evaluate sampling designs.
  • Identify methods of data collection.
  • Describe the types of data analysis and interpretation.
